Tsum’s extreme isolation has meant that too many of its Indigenous Himalayan residents have had to suffer unnecessarily or perish from treatable illnesses.
Common issues treated at our centre include cuts and physical trauma, infections, respiratory issues, urinary tract infections, and gastritis. We provide pre and post natal care for mothers and infants.
The Compassion Project’s mandate is to fill a gap in the system and provide basic medical care to this strong yet vulnerable population that is far away from Kathmandu.
Your donations allow us to staff and operate our health centre in Lamagaun Village (3,300 m) where we:
Provide free healthcare to villagers
Staff an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife
Employ 1 cleaner
Stock the centre with good quality medicine and supplies
Provide outreach house calls and outreach education
Support maternal and infant care and offer home birth options
Provide helicopter rescues for complex emergencies when possible
